CSR
De Raat also takes responsibility in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), whether or not together with partners. There are 150 solar panels on the roof of our office in Zoetermeer. Thanks to this installation, this branch is completely self-sufficient in its electricity consumption. The generated energy is 100% CO2-free, allowing us to actively contribute to reducing CO2 emissions.

Our facilities in Herentals (Belgium) are also equipped with solar panels to meet our own needs. Together with its manufacturing partners, De Raat uses packaging materials as sparingly as possible, without, of course, losing sight of the protective function of the packaging.

During the expansion of production capacity at our sister company in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland, much attention was paid to reducing the environmental impact. For instance, in winter, the heat generated during the painting process in the paint lines is fully reused to heat the buildings, high-quality insulation was chosen, and great attention was paid to energy-efficient lighting.

Logistics partner Bode Scholten (Transmission) handles a large portion of shipment deliveries in the Benelux. Since early May, Bode Scholten has been using ā€˜HVO’ fuel. HVO stands for "Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil" and is a new type of biofuel. This fuel is made from certified used oils and residual animal fats.

Unlike previous generations of biodiesels, the production of HVO has no impact on food production or deforestation, and there is no change in land use.

Initially, Bode Scholten is running approximately 40% of its vehicles on HVO. The pure product HVO 100 was chosen, resulting in a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions.
In addition to the enormous 90% reduction in CO2 emissions, there is also 33% less particulate matter and 9% less nitrogen, thereby meeting the European objective to reduce CO2 as much as possible per liter of fuel consumed.
